Repair Bad Capacitors

In this place, you will find resources and schematics for repairing your own Audio Gear. The video above is about replacing bad caps in your LCD monitor. The monitor presented is a Samsung SyncMaster 204b which is a great monitor except for the cheap Chinese capacitors. The difference between mainstream LCD monitors is quite small in regards to changing these caps, so whatever LCD monitor you have, you will be able to locate these bad caps, read the numbers and letters on them, buy new ones and replace them. The only critical things are:

1. Turn the power off!
2. The capacitors are polarized (like a battery) so it DOES MATTER how you place it. Look for the minus sign on the side of the capacitor and take a note (or a photo) so you know which leg goes into which hole! The minus sign is the ‘minus’ leg.
